The Student Nurses Association (SNA) of Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing organized a structured teaching session in observance of National Deworming Day, aimed at creating awareness about the importance of deworming among children and adolescents.

National Deworming Day, observed annually on February 10, is an initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It focuses on promoting deworming among preschool and school-age children between 1 and 19 years. The theme for 2026, “Worm-Free Kids, Brighter Futures,” emphasizes the importance of improving child health and nutrition through preventive care.


Programme Highlights

The programme was conducted by DGNM III Year students on 30th January 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the III Year classroom.

The session was compered by Ms. Delfin Selva Varshini (DGNM III Year), and the welcome address was delivered by Ms. Akshaya (DGNM III Year), who greeted the participants and set the context for the programme.

An informative PowerPoint presentation was delivered by Ms. A. Alin Reshmia (DGNM III Year), who elaborated on:

  • The importance of regular deworming
  • Target population groups
  • Dosage guidelines
  • Health education strategies for community settings

The session also included interactive discussions and a question-and-answer segment, which enhanced understanding and encouraged active participation among students.


Conclusion

The programme concluded with words of appreciation for the organizing team, followed by a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. S. Leethial. The session successfully enhanced awareness about deworming practices and their role in improving the overall health of children.
