The Student Nurses Association (SNA) of Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing organized an awareness programme on 23rd March 2026 in commemoration of World Down Syndrome Day.
The programme commenced at 12:00 noon in the classroom setting, with enthusiastic participation from all V Semester B.Sc. Nursing students and faculty members. The event was effectively compered by Mr. Arthur Deva Dhas of V Semester B.Sc. Nursing.
The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Babila, V Semester B.Sc. Nursing student, who warmly greeted the gathering. As part of the programme, students presented a role play highlighting the challenges and social experiences of individuals with Down syndrome, effectively conveying the importance of empathy and inclusion.
An informative PowerPoint presentation on World Down Syndrome Day was delivered by Ms. Monika Sharon and Ms. Santhini, V Semester B.Sc. Nursing students, providing insights into the condition, its implications, and the importance of awareness.
Dr. Golden Catherine, Professor, addressed the students and elaborated on the significance of observing World Down Syndrome Day, emphasizing the need for compassion, support, and social inclusion for individuals with Down syndrome.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Basuma, V Semester B.Sc. Nursing student, expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers for making the event meaningful and impactful.
