Breast Feeding Week 01.08.2023 – 07.08.2-23

Theme: “Enabling breastfeeding: making a difference for working parents

The first week of August (01.08.2023 – 07.08.2-23), Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing celebrated World breastfeeding week with the theme “Enabling breastfeeding: making a difference for working parents”. Third year B.Sc Nursing students took part actively throughout the week in various activities. 

On 02nd of August, at Dr. Jeyasekharan Hospital, individual health education given to all antenatal and postnatal mothers in the Downstairs and group health education in OP- 4, 8 and Anisha block. Mothers actively participated in giving a good response and cleared their doubts using powerpoint presentations and pamphlets were distributed.  

On 04th of August, at Dr. Jeyasekharan Hospital, group health education was conducted for antenatal and postnatal mothers in Anisha block, OPD – 4 & 8 using powerpoint presentations and pamphlets were distributed. A special talk regarding the importance of breastfeeding was given by Dr. Akshara, benefits of breastfeeding was given by Dr. Maya Gopal and Mrs. Lincy insisted on breastfeeding techniques. Mothers were benefited.

On 09th of August, at Primary Health Centre, Krishnankoil a health education was conducted for the public. Dr. Ashwin Pradheep, the senior assistant surgeon gave the introductory talk on breastfeeding followed by health education regarding the importance and the health benefits were discussed. Nearly 25 postnatal mothers benefited out of this program.
