Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing observed World Mental Health Day on 10th October 2025 with a meaningful programme aimed at raising awareness about mental health, especially in times of crisis and emergencies.
Programme Highlights
The programme commenced with a prayer song, setting a reflective tone for the event.
Dr. Renu Devaprasad, Medical Administrator, delivered the felicitation address, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing mental health and ensuring access to care for all individuals.
The theme of the day was formally unveiled by Dr. Sanjana, Psychiatrist, who highlighted the relevance of mental health services during catastrophes and emergency situations.
Mrs. Shahila, Psychologist, delivered an informative session on mental health and mental illness, creating awareness about common challenges and the importance of early intervention.
An activity session on stress management and coping strategies was conducted by Dr. Golden Catherine, engaging participants in practical techniques to manage stress effectively.
B.Sc. Nursing VI Semester students actively contributed through creative presentations, depicting the significance of mental health during times of crisis and adding vibrancy to the programme.
Conclusion
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Binni, expressing gratitude to all speakers, organizers, and participants.
The event successfully highlighted the importance of mental health awareness and reinforced the need for accessible and supportive mental health services, especially during emergencies.
