World Patient Safety Day was organized by the College of Allied Health Sciences in collaboration with Nursing Services on 17.09.2024 at the hospital auditorium, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. The aim of the program was to enhance the knowledge of staff and students regarding patient safety. A total of 109 participants from various departments attended. The theme of the day was “Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety.” Dr. Aneeta Alexis, Associate Professor at KKGMCH, Asaripallam, was the chief guest of the program.
The program began with a prayer song, followed by a welcome address by Ms. Alsa Mol, Dialysis Tutor. Dr. Renu Devaprasath, Medical Administrator, gave a brief introduction to World Patient Safety Day. Dr. Subbiyan, Consultant Physiatrist, presented on the topic “Standing Up to Prevent Errors.” Dr. Aneeta Alexis felicitated the gathering. Dr. Jithesh, Lab Director, spoke on “Improving Diagnosis in Laboratories.” Mr. Kingstone, In-charge of the Imaging Department, presented on “Improving Diagnosis in Radiology.” Mrs. Mariya Lisa, Patient Safety Officer, explained the International Patient Safety Goals – 2024.
Mr. Nelson, In-charge of Microbiology, discussed “Microbiological Diagnostics and Patient Safety.” Mrs. Hepzi Harareet, Deputy Nursing Superintendent, highlighted “The Role of Nurses in Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety.”Ms. Maria Bews Hair, Clinical Lead in Surgery, Dumfries, UK, and special guest of the program, shared her perspective on “Patient Safety in Her View.”
Prizes were distributed to the winners of the Patient Safety Day competitions by the dignitaries. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Annogen Varghese, Assistant Nursing Superintendent. The program concluded with the National Anthem at 1:45 pm.
