ONAM CELEBRATION – College of Allied Health Sciences – 2023

Dr. Jeyasekharan Medical Trust College of Allied Health Sciences, Nagercoil, celebrated the Onam festival on Monday, 28th August 2023 at 10:00 am on the college campus in a traditional manner. The program was organized by the III Year B.Sc. OTAT students with the support of the faculty.

To mark the significance of Onam, an Athapookolam (colourful floral carpet) competition was held on a year-wise basis. The winners were:

  • 1st Prize – B.Sc. Operation Theatre & Anaesthesia Technology III Year
  • 2nd Prize – B.Sc. Dialysis Technology III Year
  • 3rd Prize – B.Sc. Operation Theatre & Anaesthesia Technology I Year

In addition, fun competitions such as Musical Chairs and Tug of War were conducted as part of the celebrations, in which students from various departments actively participated. A photo session with all the faculty and students of Allied Health Sciences was held, and the Onam festival flex was unveiled.

The Onam cultural program took place at the College Auditorium at 2:00 pm. The event began with a welcome speech by Ms. Neethumol G. S. (B.Sc. OTAT II Year). The Course Coordinator, Mrs. Jeyalakshmi, inaugurated the cultural program with her Onam message and graced the occasion. This was followed by a speech on the “History and Significance of Onam” delivered by Ms. Hasna Mohamed Sathik (B.Sc. DT I Year).

Students showcased their talents through various cultural performances. The Kerala traditional dance Thiruvathirakaliwas performed by B.Sc. CT II Year students, while the Maveli Welcome and a drama performance added charm to the festivities. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Nithya S. (B.Sc. DT III Year).

The Onam celebration brought together students and faculty in a spirit of cultural unity, joy, and festivity, making the day memorable for all.
