22.04.2024 | Urban PHC, Vadasery | Duration: 30 minutes
Theme: “Accelerate the fight against malaria for a more equitable world”

World Malaria Day is observed every year on 25th April as a global health initiative that began in 2007 to raise awareness about malaria prevention and control. In line with this, World Malaria Day was celebrated at Urban PHC, Vadasery, on 22nd April 2024 by IV Year B.Sc. Nursing and III Year GNM Nursing students.

The program began at 10:00 am with an introductory talk by Ms. Daffney. The students conducted a puppet show to create awareness among the public about malaria. Through the performance, they explained the meaning of malaria, its mode of transmission, stages of disease progression, and available preventive measures including vaccination. Approximately 15 members of the public actively participated in the program.

This was followed by a speech from Dr. I. Ajaya Manju, Medical Officer, who spoke on malaria prevention and appreciated the college team for organizing the awareness program. The event concluded at 10:30 am with a vote of thanks by Ms. Priya Dharshini.

The celebration was impactful, successfully spreading awareness about malaria prevention and reinforcing the importance of collective efforts in eliminating the disease.
