WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY – 2025

Theme: “Advancing Neurodiversity and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”

World Autism Awareness Day was established by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly in 2007 to raise public awareness and foster acceptance of individuals with Autism. The day, observed annually on 2nd April,reminds society of the importance of improving the quality of life of those with Autism and helping them become an integral part of the community.

In line with this global observance, Dr. Jeyasekharan School & College of Nursing organized an Autism Awareness Program on 2nd April 2025 at Santhi Nilayam, School for the Mentally Challenged. The event was conducted by B.Sc. Nursing III Year students, DGNM II Year students, and faculty members.

Program Highlights

  • Orientation: At 10:00 a.m., the management of Santhi Nilayam provided an orientation on the institution’s vision, objectives, facilities, and administration.
  • Opening: The program commenced at 10:30 a.m. with a prayer song by B.Sc. Nursing III Year students.
  • Welcome Address: Delivered by Ms. Alin Reshmia (DGNM II Year).
  • PPT Presentation: On Autism, major health issues, and management strategies, presented by Ms. Beni and Ms. Abi Sherine (B.Sc. Nursing III Year).
  • Role Play: A skit on the management of children with Autism, performed by DGNM II Year students.
  • Script: The entire program was scripted and coordinated by Ms. Jomels (B.Sc. Nursing III Year).
  • Vote of Thanks: Delivered by Ms. Selvin Benishiya (B.Sc. Nursing III Year).
