15.10.2024 | Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing Campus | Duration: 1 hour
Theme: “Promoting Knowledge and Capacity”
World Handwashing Day was observed on 15th October 2024 at Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing. The program, organized by B.Sc. Nursing I Year students, was conducted in the classroom at 9:00 am.
The session began with a powerful slogan: “Why is sharing knowledge about hand hygiene still so important? Because it helps stop the spread of harmful germs in healthcare.” The event was well organized and hosted by Ms. Princy Mariya J. (B.Sc. Nursing I Year).
Awareness on hand hygiene was created through a PowerPoint presentation and educational video clips, explaining the steps of handwashing as well as the different types of handwashing — medical and surgical asepsis in healthcare — presented by Ms. Princy Mariya J.
A live demonstration of simple handwashing techniques using soap and water was carried out by Ms. Deepika Nair R. V. (B.Sc. Nursing I Year) with a tray setup, reinforcing practical learning for all participants.
The program was highly beneficial, as students gained adequate knowledge of hand hygiene, mastered the techniques of handwashing, and developed the right attitude towards performing medical asepsis in healthcare settings.
