ONAM CELEBRATION – 2024

Dr. Jeyasekharan Medical Trust College of Allied Health Sciences, Nagercoil, celebrated the Onam festival on 13th September 2024 at 11:00 am on the college campus in a traditional manner.

To mark the significance of Onam, an Athapookolam (colourful floral carpet) competition was conducted on a class-wise basis. The B.Sc. Dialysis Technology III Year students won the 1st prize, B.Sc. Cardiac Technology II and III Year students secured the 2nd prize, and the B.Sc. Operation Theatre & Anaesthesia Technology II Year students won the 3rd prize.

The Onam celebration program was held at the College Auditorium at 11:00 am. The event began with a welcome speech by Ms. Bivish Giftika (CT III Year). This was followed by a brief speech on Onam by Mr. Vigneshwaran (DT I Year). The cultural programs were inaugurated by the Correspondent, Mrs. Beena Sabu, along with Ms. Anju Sabu, IT Consultant, Dr. Jeyasekharan Medical Trust, who also shared an Onam message. Mrs. Jeyalakshmi, Vice Principal, further delivered the Onam message.

Students showcased their talents through a variety of cultural performances. The traditional Kerala dance Thiruvathirakaliwas performed by the I Year B.Sc. OTAT, DT, and CT students. Other highlights included the performance of the Maveli Welcome and an Onam song, both of which were presented beautifully. The morning session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Abinantha (B.Sc. OTAT III Year).

In the afternoon session, fun competitions such as Musical Chairs and Tug of War were organized. Students from various departments actively participated, adding excitement and joy to the celebrations.

The Onam festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm, reflecting cultural richness and strengthening the spirit of unity among students and staff.
